OK, so I have been driving around in my '80 MGB for almost a year now, when I got the car it ran OK, but pretty weak down low, but nice power beyond 3000 rpm or so. The previous owner rebuilt the motor, he said he put a cam in it, so I figure, OK, that is how a motor with a cam runs, I give up a little down low for some extra up top.
Well couple days ago I say to myself, you know you never checked the timing on the thing, well ten degrees of advance later I have better low end power, still good high end power, lower operating temp, which leads to better oil pressure as well.
Never Assume, expecially when it involves work you have not done yourself.
