Need Bugeye top frame; Have older Sprite top frame

As I was looking through the pile of parts that I got with my Bugeye, I noticed that the convertible top frame was for a later Sprite. I think it is for a '67 or so (it seems to have a header piece built into the front of the frame). If you need one, I can send you a picture. On the other hand, it seems that I now have no correct top or hood frame for my Bugeye, so please let me know if anyone has an extra one. Jim

I can't help you with the Bugeye but I am in need of a frame and top for my 65 MkIII Sprite. But I believe the 65 is different from 67 - mine has a receiver behind the seats to accept a vertical post - I'm wondering if it would work however. Ted

The frames for everything '67 and after are the same.

I have one. Maybe you will find one closer to Florida. I'm in Iowa, not very pretty to pack for shipping.

Bill, price is right. Any thoughts on shipping? I've never tried to ship anything so shapely:smile:

Put it on a bus - a hardtop from Syracuse to the Dakotas was about $50.

JP- did it arrive OK? I want to send a hardtop to Pennsylvania but thought that it would be too difficult.
Ted- I could easily just band it up and put it on Greyhound too, never tried that.

It did - Scoutl bought it - and I think there was some abrasion on a couple of ends - which may have been there or may have been because I wrapped it in the parking lot of the bus station. I bought bubble wrap and packing tape and we were good to go.

Rick, I have several of the frames with the header rail attached. Don't have any plans for them. May have some with usable top attached if you arn't fussy.

As to shipping by bus, I recieved a hardtop shipped by an E-Bay seller a few years ago in great shape and cheap to ship. Definetly check it out, Bill.

Sounds like Ted may need a header rail without frame.

Got an extra but I'm keeping it to attach a EZ top like yours with the zip out rear window. (I'm assuming you mean a header rail for the 64 thru 66 cars)

Kurt.

I shipped a bonnet on the bus. No problems at all.

The short list of parts I need for my 65 AH Sprite:
- top frame and top (I'm missing everything related to the convertible top)
- windshield
- air filter housing (my engine starts at the carb's)
- spin on oil filter housing to convert from my cartridge style
- seat belts
- choke cable assembly
- turn signal switch
- one front flasher lens (clear)
- ignition switch and key + door lock cylinder
- floor pans (both sides)
- one piece of seat track, the side that bolts to the floor pan
- the two round pieces of chrome trim behind the window crank
- right side door lock lever

My 65 should have a 1098 engine but the engine serial number is 9C-U-H so sadly, someone had previously installed a 948 motor. But the carbs carry a AUD404 tag which are for a 1275 motor. So I guess I'm building a Frankenstein!

The Bugeye was one piece and you fit it upright behind the seats, the MkII had it split so that it could go into the trunk.
