Nasty travel

Went to a car show in Myrtle Beach, SC this weekend.Came back through Newberry with my '59 Bugeye where we came through the tail end of a tornado...........tons of water as well as hail. Luckly there were no dinks in the paint or body....thick skin I'd say. Got it home in the garage Sat. night where I removed the carpet....dried out quite well in the sun the next day.

I've been caught in many bad storms in my Midget. I'm glad you and the car are OK. However, isn't comforting to know that the car can handle such conditions when needed?

One other thing, if one gets really wet put the top up in the garage and put a dehumidifier on the inside on the seats and let it run for a few days and it does good. In the past, I always tried putting the top down in the sun, but it would cloud up as soon as I did it. I know mine will get wet inside sooner or later, that is why I coated the floors good with truck bed liner, so hopefully the water can be dried up easier. I have also thought about making up some large bean bags filled with desiccant and sealed in plastic to use for such occasions. I am so glad I got rid of all that old jute matting, once wet, that stuff never dries it seem.

I had the top up and it on the trailer....had the side curtians in..it only got in through a hole on the right side where a steering column goes (never got around to pluging it)and around the side curtians which did not seal really well. What worried me was the wind from the tornado that was blowing things around....and the hail....luckly it was only pea size. After a good drying...all looks good. Ready for the road again....next trip will be to the Lowes Motor Speedway for the spring thing. Hope to see ya there.

It is the Food Lion Auto Fair.......at the Lowes Motor Speedway. They have a car show in the spring and fall.
