Napa Gold oil filter

I am changing the oil in my 73B roadster and the filter that was on it was the Bosch 3330.
My question is:
I bought a Napa Gold 1348 that is the cross reference to the Bosch 3330. These filters are tiny, I mean really tiny, but it is the same dia. as the adapter base. Is this a normal size or did the PO just happen to use this size filter adapter when he changed?

P.S. I also bought 4 qts of the NAPA 20W50 performance oil. After further reading in other sites, is it true that the 1800 takes just over 4 qts?

When I went to get a replacement the guy at NAPA said - hey, these are the ones we sell for riding lawnmowers! I said: Hey, that's why they look familiar to me, I have two of them on my mower right now!

Does that mean, you do have one of those ultra small filters?
I noticed they are used for Motorcycles and tractors too.

Newkie, sump for 1800 is 9 pints or 4 and a half quarts.

NAPA Gold filters are made by Wix (Dana). The part you want is 51068. This is the large filter can with an anti-drain back valve. A 73 has the top mount filter head; without the drainback valve, the filter, well... drains back into the sump leading to a dry-ish start. .

IMO, the Wix filter is about the best on the market; perhaps behind the K+N which costs about 3x as much. I no longer use FRAM filters.

EDIT: looking at the WIX website, the specs on the two part numbers are nearly identical, so the filter you are using should be fine.

Be careful about too small.

There is a standpipe in there that can jamb up against the top of the filter and cause you no end of grief.

I get my Wix filters from Rockauto.com for a bit less than $4 each, I usually buy a dozen or so at a time (for all our cars...about 6 at last count).
