Mystery part - early XKE rear interior partition?

In the process of helping my LBC mechanic clean out his old shop - we came upon this piece which he initially identified as the fold down "partition" for the seat rear seat back from an MGB GT. After getting it home and looking it over...the shape, size, hinges look like it's possible, but there are two support rods that fold down out of the piece that I've never seen before. One reply on the MG forum mentioned it looks like an XKE part, so thought I'd tap into your expertise!

Yep, E-type coupe piece to keep the luggage from sliding into the back of the seats. It would be hinged along the line of th rear axle assembly and latches to the rear wheel wells.
