TR6 My Twin Turbo TR6

I've been working on this project for some time. The frame was in need of attention (trailing arms sections) and the engine was getting tired, so I decided to do a frame off restoration and an engine swap at the same time.

I wanted more performance than the stock mill could produce and didn't like the sound of a V8 from a TR, so I looked into inline 6's. Since I live at altitude I wanted it to be turbocharged. Which led me to the Supra engine. The beauty of this engine is that it is also 2.5 liters like the orginal, only difference, this one redlines at 8000 rpm and cranks out about 310 RWHP in stock trim and achieves full boost by 3000 rpm.

I am sure this is not what some would do, but after owning the car for 11 years and it being a version that was far from correct, I chose to do this.

That's scary! You know when the Drift Racing crowd figures it out that you are running a Supra engine, they will come a calling.

Should make for an exciting setup when you get it all together. Are you gonna share with us the drive train mods like the diff, tranny, etc.?

For the shifter, you can get the HVDA shifter mount and use the stock TR6 handle from Herman.

As for drive train mods, I am running the R154 transmission, bigger brother to the W58 that can be swapped in with Herman's kit. Custom drive shaft. I mounted the Supra 4:1 limited slip diff into the frame using the stock mounting pins. CV axles and hubs from Kevin at Ocala that mount to the supra hub flanges. Aluminium front hubs from Southwick machine. Herman's swap didn't move the shifter forward enough, so I made my own and made it a short throw as well. But, it comes out of the transmission tunnel in the exact stock location.

Still running stock brakes in an effort to save some money till I get this thing on road and keep the wife happy (budget). They are easy to upgrade on a complete car and will be done later.

The frame has been reinforced heavily as well, 1/8 inch plate to box in the entire rear differential and numerous other little mods. I may run a roll bar later that goes into the trunk and into the cabin, but I am going to get it on the road before I decide.

Now on to the body, my paint guy wants it in the next month or so so I need to get going.
