MY OIL CHANGE STORY

Okie dokie...
I had the intention today that my raditator flush/oilfilter/oil change was going to be rather straight forward today... HA, my silly assumptions!

So after trying and trying to remove the oil filter with all types of belts n such. I got the idea of whacking a screwdriver through it to leaver it out... no luck

After a bit more playing around...
I found the back door

What was in the radiator... YUK!

When i was pretty much done, packing away all the tools all over the road /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
A young fella around 16 or so was asking me all sorts of questions saying things like....

"MAN, IVE HEARD YOUR CAR AROUND HERE, ITS SIK DUDE! WHAT HAVE YA DONE TO IT, ITS SO FKN LOUD!"
After showing him its only a 1.8 he was shocked /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I then took him for a spin around the block...

He's now telling me hes wanting a MG

There u go...LBC's still have a hope with youth in australia

It's amazing how tight sometimes these filters are actually put on since the filters should really only be put on finger-tight in the first place, but anyway... A cheap oil-filter wrench amazingly will remove a filter in a couple of seconds. Sometimes a custom filter wrench that mates with the end of the filter and uses a socket-wrench handle can give you a little more leverage.

Good job, only thing you left out was the beer at the end!

But, since you took off the oil filter adapter, keep a good eye on where it attaches to the engine, since you've disturbed the seal there watch for leaks. Sometimes it gets old and hard.

there is also a universal kit that you can bolt on at this point that changes your filter to a hanging spin on.
it runs about $40. I have one, just haven't gotten around to changing it yet.

or, you could go the other direction and change over to the inverted spin on unit for around $215.

or, of course. Just bolt it all back in and save your funds for something nifty down the line /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
