Well guys, here's my 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

She needs a little tin

Pictures are pretty big and detailed(500kb easy) 56k should get a mag and relax

(These first 5 are taking a long time to load...)

Ripped the carpet out on the passenger's side yesterday... Here's the damage /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Rear seat taken off
#2
Hey look! I can see the front right tyre!
#3
Below the rear seat
No rot!

The car needs every fender replaced, along with the sills + floors... And that windshield rust /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

It runs though! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif On two cylinders /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

The future of it?

Well, I've noticed that every place on the internet that deals with Alfas would consider this a total basketcase AKA parts car... But I won't rip it apart. I don't have the stomach for it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I was thinking about turning her into a vintage racer... She's running the stock SPICA FI.

I originally planned to get some Webers for the B GT, but I can't afford all the s%*t needed for a conversion... So I'll put them on the Alfa's twin cam /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Although you'll all think I'm crazy and dumb for buying this old girl... But I love the way she smells /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF Nothing beats the smell of rotten gas filling up the backyard /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

Man oh man. You're in for a huge project. However it is an admirable one and I will be very jealous of the car when you're done. I love those things!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gifWow, I don't know what's worse, that or my (ehem) Spitfire. I wonder if Zebart would use this in one of there comrcials. I love that window sticker! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That is a very cool car but the rust around the windshield would scare the heck out of me. Interior looks great. Good luck with it!

Man that is one heck of a project you've got there, good luck with it. Can't wait to see it completed.

That windshield scared the death out of me too... But I found the most amazing site

The interior isn't too shabby... The passenger + rear seats are pretty mint. Dash has 1 crack.

One of my very favourite cars of all time - gorgeous proportions. However, I suspect you've taken on a near hopeless task, economically at least. It grieves me to see one of these beauties fade away, but you may be better off starting with a car that is more sound than this one. The 104 Alfas rusted pretty badly when new - 30 some years later, they aren't any better.

I really wish you excellent luck with this car. They're lovely, lovely beasts. On the plus side - your metal working skills will improve! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

A great car and a noble undertaking (of epic proportions).

You are either very brave, very foolish or both. I salute you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif

Those are great cars. My Boss has had one for about 25 years. He sent the shell out for stripping, repairing, and repainting, and he has also sent the motor and trans out for rebuild and modifications, to some expert in Seattle.

It will be his Alaskan winter project to reassemble it in his garage.

Very nice cars, always wanted one of the twin plug racing ones myself. If you give up let me know, I can always use another trans for the lotus...

There's somthing about Italian iron on the track...fantastic. Get your torch/mig/tig and some tin and have at it! Just the thing to thrash about in at club meets, or some classic races. Remember, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single spotweld. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Darcy, always liked the GTV's is this a 1750? Had a few in my club in the late 70's in NY. Looked great with BWA wheels & ANSA exhaust. There is a specialist in MA by me, quite a trip for you, but check out these links.

Best of luck to you!
