While I'm on a roll I have a couple more questions. My car was a restoration project underway when I bought it and sure enough lots of little parts are no where to be found. What type of supports were on the bottom of the dash to firewall? There has to be something to steady it. Another is what is the procedure to install the dzus fasteners on the hood? I have the aluminum part that fits on top of the hood, the fastener itself and the deal that bolts to the inner fender. What type of spring holds the fastener itself from falling off?

Thanks, Donnie

The dash has two brackets that run from the dash to the firewall. There are four holes in the lip of the dash in groups of two located below where the four gauges are. The brackets extend to the firewall where there are two welded on brackets. The supports are flat on the ends where the mounting holes are, and along the rest of the bracket, there are two u-shaped channels.
Here is one procedure for installing the dzus fastener pieces in the bonnet (hood). There is a washer that is used to hold on the dzus fastener, but it's a PITA to put on and take off. I just used an "E-Clip", and it worked out fine, easy on, easy off. I forget what size it is, but somewhere around 3/8" to 1/2". Take the dzus fastener to you local hardware store and have them give you a couple that fit in the groove.

E-Clips...

Donnie: If you don't have one, get yourself a copy of the TR3 spare parts catalog. It's full of diagrams which will answer most questions like this. You can download a free copy. Just Google it.

See example below.

Good luck, T
