Molly Is Finally Mobile

I know I have been asking a lot of questions and buying up parts (trying my wifes patience) but I am happy to report I have completed my first series of test drives.

After I got my gas tank from Tony it was awhile before I could get installed because of the weather. After I got it installed it was still about 3 days before I could get around to putting in gas and driving "Molly".

Finally the big day arrived. I put in gas charged up the battery crossed my fingers and hit the key. Success!!. "Molly" cranked up and settled into an idle. A little minor tweaking on the carb adjustments and she smoothed out. I took her on a short cruise through the neighborhood and she shifted beautifully and the clutch worked perfectly. Note to self "brakes still have a little air in the lines" I laid the top, down and the sun was warm and the sky was blue, you couldn't have asked for a better day.

The first drives were a complete success. My wife was also quite taken by her first ride. It was the type of experience that automatically brings a smile to your face.

There are still several things I want to do to "Molly" such as suspension work, new tires and wheels and paint and a little body work but I am now satisfied I have a good platform to build on. My most sincere thanks to all who offered advice and encouragement, I couldn't have done it with out you guys./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

You have now entered the MG Zone...do not be afraid...

Those 10 minute trips to the store will now take half an hour...the long way

You will discover more reasons to "run out for something"

You will strangly find yourself volunteering to give others a lift to anywhere

And you will enjoy driving again.

All is good /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Why, just this past Saturday, I found an inexplicable urge to go on a test drive after washing my B, and making some fine adjustments to the carb. What started out as a 'quick' test drive around the block, turned into a 55 mile spin around in the mountains. Which ended in a stop at the grocery store. mmm... yes, indeed the LONG way to the store... but boy did it feel good! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Fact is I think the weather was just simply too beautiful on Saturday to resist such a drive. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Well that was it to begin with then SWMBO said "Why did you call the car that? I like Molly" So the car is now "Molly". That way shes in a much better mood when the parts shipments start arriving. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif
