MGB-GT MGB GT new design??

The last one on the page looks slightly like an MGB-GT, not too bad - the others don't interest me.

Maybe it's just me, but the majority of the new car concept design sketchs all look like storyboard illustrations from "Judge Dredd" or the like.

I like the original GT much better and the more I see them the more I like the RB version.

I do think John Zajac's, the last one, has the potential to be very nice. The others captured absolutely none of what made the original so nice from both an aesthetic and utilitarian point of view. To my eyes, at least.

OK...

I've looked far and wide and can't find a picture of the first MGB GT anywhere on the internet - the MGB Berlinette coupe built by Jacques Coune over in Belgium between about 1964 to 1967 in small numbers.

A few references were found, but no picture!

I've seen articles on it so I know the car was built, for those who know what it is... what do you think of this early coach-built version of the MGB coupe?

They built 56 Berlinetta coupes, custom built from modified roadsters. According the November issue of Classic & Sports Car magazine the "prototype" Berlinetta was shown by Coune in 1964 and later given to BMC for their review - but BMC officially introduced the GT a year later at the end of 1965.

There no mention of how much influence (if any) the Berlinetta had over the GT, but in the end the modified roadster-turned-GT was over twice the cost of BMC's GT version.

Personal note - the Berlinetta is a nice looking car, but in the end I think the hatch-back design BMC came up with is much more to my liking, and probably fit the market better than the Berlinetta did.

I'm with you guys, I like the last one the best. It seems to be the only design to capture the essence of the original GT.

I always liked the Berlinetta Coupes ever since I first eyed one. Wonder if anybody had ever attempted to re-produce an aftermarket kit for one. Using one of the many old ratted out Rubber Bumpers as the platform (so as not to upset anybody by hacking into something nice), it seems to me something like that would sell.

As for the GT drawings? I too find the last one the best.

I dunno, I kind of like this one:

OK, maybo not the successor to the B-GT, and yeah, I know its kind of stubby and drives the wrong wheels...but it is kind of nice to see the old octagon and a hot hatch that is actually being sold...today. I think it carries on the name nicely.

Ya'll may hate this but...I kinda like the new Hyundai Tiberon. One of the local kids, re-badged it to look like the original Korean model-the Tuscani. Hyundai offers it in a few colors like " Ferrari" red and "British" racing green.

However, I still can't bear to drive any front wheel drive car!! Man was meant to be pushed around, not pulled!!!

Warm regards,
Stuart

I don't want to see anymore designs until I can get one right here in the U.S. Why should the Brits have all the fun. BRING-EM OVER and we will buy-em!!!!! I want a new Midget, I want a new B (or whatever is being produced). I want a dealer to open up right here in Dallas, RIGHT NOW.
