MG in NASCAR / Seat belt clips?

Watching the Daytona 500 Sunday the announcers commented that, I believe it was in the 1960's, an MG ran in one of the NASCAR races and they were looking for any information anybody might have about the car and its running. Does anybody out there know about this car or (giving our age away now) remember it?

Second:
I replaced seatbelts on 76B with some really good retracting ones (aftermarket). Is there anything available to keep the belts from retracting fully so that I can get at them to fasten them? Right now it takes a great deal of effort because they retract well behind the seat.

These stoppers are on all the new cars so the belts can go all the way back but the ends don't fall down and become akward to reach. The best bet is to go to an auto parts store and purchase an adapter that slides over the belt and holds ti from retracting without being permanent. Try this, I'm sure you'll like it. Dave

The problem with the pins, they compromise the belt system and in Canada, that will result in a fine and replacement. My only other suggestion is to make sure the pins don't hinder the use for someone else to drive the car. Not trying to be a jerk, just thinking of all the problems that could arise. Dave

I'm beginning to think that the MG running in NASCAR is an Urban Legend. Seems like SOMEONE would have photographic documentation.

A Jag XK120 ran in Nascar in the '50s but I'm not sure about any MGs

Foreign manufacturers have visited NASCAR before, but only slightly more often than termites infest Antarctica. On June 13, 1954, at the Linden (N.J.) Airport, Al Keller drove a Jaguar to victory in a NASCAR road race that also included cars branded Austin-Healy, MG, Porsche and Morgan. Jaguars took four of the first six positions, but, significantly, it was Joe Eubanks in a Hudson who finished second.

i don't have a picture, they didn't take many photos back in the old days. but i live in the middle of nascar country, I'm not much of a fan any more. but i guess when you learn the politics it takes all the fun out of it.

one of my friends (who is now retired from turning wrenches on those toys) told me that a MG ran in a few races, when he saw mine. he even named the driver, for the life of me, i don't remember the drivers name, but i do remember he said he personaly saw it. Next time i see him, i'll ask him... maybe then you will have better luck finding something.
