luggage rack?

just purchased a luggage rack for my 63 bj7,its the one you dont have to drill into your trunk lid to install, comes with the stand offs for the rear bumper brackets and is very nicely chromed,i was told it was nos.'factory'installed model.my questions are 1-did the factory have thier own to install as an option made specialy for the healeys? and 2-were the originals shinny aluminun and not chrome as ive been told in the past? i know some feel the rack detracts from the lines of the car,the reason i like this one is that it insalls and removes easily and requires no drilling or modifications.thanks in advance,anthony7777 1963 bj7 3000 M.K.II. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Why you need a luggage rack you planning on moving west??. I have one installed on my other car. The thing I found potentially damaging is the requirement to install and remove the Hinge pins. Consequently, I turned SS bolts down and threaded one end 10 X 32 its easy now to install and remove.--Fwiw---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Luggage racks look great on TRs and MGs, but as you noted in your post, they look goofy on Healeys. My suggestion...travel light.

nevets,dont tell keoke,but im planning to drive cross country and i realy need the luggage rack to hold a large steamer trunk stuffed with money for him,but he does have the right idea turning down the s.s. bolts and being able to just unscew the caps for quick removale,i like it keoke i like it!!you trully are worth a trunk full o money!!!see i dont plan on leaving it on permanently just for a nice summer pick-nick once in a while.thanks,but i still want to know answers to my 2 original questions. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Nope!, they were not shinny Aluminum only Chrome. I forgot what the other question was. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif . However, being as you were so receptive earlier, I will tell you that I also made special adjustable fittings for the legs that allow them to rest on the bumper irons instead of the bumper chrome.---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
