There is a guy selling a kit to LOWER your Healey on E-bay. Two to three inches! What is the ground clearence, 4 1/2? Will stop on a dime cause it won't clear it. Says its for racing. They have less than 500 miles on them. That says all I wanted to know. See item #4602596541 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hard to be sure on the photgraph, but if his BJ8 has those fitted they don't seem to have altered things much looking at the relative positions of the rear wheel arch and wheel.

WOW !

What a GREAT way to dispose of my old, sagging, rear springs after I put my new ($125) ones on.

Sell'em on Ebay, along with some old bolts and a stack of washers, for $99.

Is this a GREAT country or what ? ? ?

No Andrew, that BJ8 is virtually scraping the ground. With that kit installed you would not be able to drive the car on the street.----Fwiw---Keoke

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif No, No, No, you guys have it all wrong...

You buy the lowering kit to go with the Hydraulic kit that raises the car when you drive it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

ThomP,I was thinking about the Low Rider Boys after I submitted the post.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Shoot, If all he wants to accomplish is lower the car 3" just purge the air from the tires.... that will drop it a good 3"... cost nothing !

The P.O. put some aluminum blocks between the spring pan and wishbone arms to lower the front end. I'm guessing it was to level the car out as the rear end was sagging a bit. I've noticed a lot of Healeys look low in the back (except for the Phase II BJ8) with the rear wheel fender gap being smaller than the front wheel gap. Maybe these Healeys just have a lot of junk in the trunk /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif or tired rear springs. Since I'm going back to factory settings, the aluminum blocks are out so it will be interesting to compare before and after.

Cheers,
John

Just for a bit of info. I replaced my BJ8 phase 1 rear leaf springs earlier this year. I purchased them from one of the main suppliers, although they probably all get them from the same place. Well, the new springs actually lowered the rear end, which was just the opposite of what I was trying to accomplish as I was already sitting too low in the back. The new springs had no set between each leaf. I ended up returning the new springs (No problem getting a refund) and having the old ones rearched about an inch and half. I suppose I could have rearched the new ones, but I chose to return them. In any event I can't imagine why anyone would want to lower a ph1 BJ8 for street use.
