Lojack

I don't know anything about it but, it sounds cool.

Checked the dealer locater.....None for 100 miles???

Anyone know how big it is?

In most cases adding modern electronics to the Healey requires conversion to negative earth. However there is no impact on the Lucas system unless the basic system's capacity is exceeded. For these cases replacing the Dynamo with an alternator will suffice. OTOH, The additional load created by the LoJack system alone will not overload the Dynamo. Hqwever, it will put a constant discharge load on the battery and is quite expensive.---Fwiw---Keoke

LOJACK is a MA Company. I have it in a few of my cars. The size is rather small about the size of a pack of cigaretts. The cost varies depending on who the seller is. You should be able to call them to find a local NY installer. Not sure if positive or negative earth will matter. They prefer to decide the install location without your knoledge however I chose the location on my 63 Corvette coupe back in 1999.

Do an internet search and I am sure the website and tel# will come up.

So Mark,
Did they come right to your place to install it?

I'm convinced that the cost is worth the peace of mind.
To me, the car is worth more than the money that I would get from the insurance company if it was stolen.
It would be tough to replace.

interesting topic, i know several people that have this system in cars other then thier healeys, we all know these healeys are very easy to steal,i myself couldnt justify the expence in that ill never take my healey to a place that id have to leave it unguarded for any length of time,i.e to see a movie or sit in a restaurant where i wasnt able to see it from a window,or leave it in an airport long term parking lot,or go on extended trips requiring overnight hotel stays, my garage is locked, though it doesnt have an alarm i always have at least two vehicles sometimes five parked in front of its door,i never have it parked on the street, im sure others use thier healeys in different ways, but please tell me how or why one would allow a situation that would give a thief the opportunity to steel the car in the first place? im not saying lowjack is a bad idea i just dont have or understand the need for it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif Lojack will only give you feed back after the fact!---

Anybody ever see that old John Wayne movie "The Searchers"? Anybody ever steals my Healey, I'd be after them with the same determination.

Anybody stealng a Healey know what he be doing before he takes the loot!--Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Dear Mr. Policeman. Somebody stole my Healey. What's it look like? Well...it's small, and classic, and it looks just like a little British car...kinda like a...well, Healey.

So I'm wondering, if the cops can't find a stolen Healey, Lojak's gonna help?

patton,o.k ill rephrase, anyone targeting a healey most probably knows the car and can easely get it started, so if all others cant even start it why would ya need lowjack? im just saying to not put ones healey in harms way is to not have it stolen. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

and now, my dear Anthony, you understand the deep traditional connection between a fine Healey and a dog collar.
