MGA Local parts store replacement for MGA fuel pump

Hi guys - the MGA fuel pump bit the dust, maybe out of protest for my not making more progress on getting the floorboard back in. LOL.

Anyway, any ideas for a replacement pump that the local Kragen's of the world would stock? I need a positive earth set up.

For reference, here is the Moss part.

Thanks!

Fuel Pump Auto Zone E8016S
Fuel Pump Auto Zone EP105 (Alternate)
Fuel Pump NAPA Facet 610-1051
Fuel Pump NAPA NAPA P60504
Fuel Pump J C Whitney ZX735344R (same as Facet at NAPA but $30 less)

These are all low pressure auto parts store pumps suitable for SU carb cars--I have the EP105 as I recall, it says it is for neg ground, but switch the wires and it still works.

Thanks to John Simms and his website for this info.

Those things are noisy. If you buy one, start thinking about isolating it from the rest of the car.

Have you tried repairing your pump yet? Often they can be fixed easily, and then give another 20 years of service.

The last three cars I got had pumps that did not work. I took them out and cleaned up the point and put them back in. Not a problem yet (knocks on wood) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Sorry guys, I should have been more clear. The pump I am replacing is a modern one, the original has been lost to the ages....

Use an MGB transmission mount. The 2 bolt holes are perfect for the pump, and the 1 stud fits an available hole.

My recommendation, based on my experience installing a couple of them, is to get a couple of rubber cushion mounts that Mercedes uses for their fuel punp and diesel air cleaner mounts. They have stud on each end of the cushion, not overly large, they fit the Facet mounting hole nicely. So just mount them on the body/frame and the pump, running a ground wire to one of the mounting studs under the cushion.

I'm sure that Burlen Fuel Systems would be thrilltd out of their mind to find out that the pumps they make and sell are not considered as modern as the same type of impulse pump made by other manufactures /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Yeah, fair point. It was not intended like that...

So I did pick up the pump today and it looks exactly like the one that I am replacing. Not sure what happened to the other one since it was low miles, but I'll get this one installed and see if I can get her running again.

Thanks guys.
