Lime rock exhaust

time to consider what to do for a lime rock exhaust. Any Ideas? Run a homeade glass pack side pipe for now but too loud for up there. Have hardley any room to get exhaust to the back of the car, Considered sneaking a real low profile muffler under the trans and shooting it out the other side behind my door. Easiest way I suppose would be a super trapp in place of my side pipe, But I heard negative rumore of thier effectiveness without removing too many discs and loss of power. Ran into an MGA guy the other day that said that's all he runs up there. Love some thoughts!

Scott:

This (below) always worked for me at Lime Rock.
I use a steel tube stuck into the the rear jack hole to support it. Cheap Summit "sausage" muffler and slight turn-down. The whole thing can be removed in a few minutes (the ground clearance in this picture is deceiving...the front wheel is down in a hole)

I dislike the Super Trapp. They only seem to work if they almost fully corked up.

My 1500 never attracted any attention with the LR Noise Police.
Which is another point. Once you're out there, if you can figure out where they are (usually the right-hand uphill after No Name Straight) you can short-shift or back off when you're next to them (at least during practice).

Sorry for the poor photo quality. Since sound level is so dependent on direction I put a 90' turn down on mine and point it straight into the pavement.

Well after struggling with ideas I found a muffler I liked and when I pictured it in my head all I could think of is how much it will look like astreet bike pipe. So I called a freind at a Yamaha Bike shop who was selling tons "o" stock take off mufflers from various bikes. He let me rumage threw his supply and I pulled out a stock R1 muffler. Figure since that thing runs 159hp at 12k It should breath good enuf for me. Mocked it up tonight, Gotta go get a 60 deg bend tomorow and finish it up. For nothing cant hurt to try.

Looks great!

Lime Rock was always a bit hard on my low exhaust because it was so bumpy, but they're re-paved it, so you should have no problem with clearance.

Although the 1500 may sound loud in your front yard, in reality, it isn't nearly as loud as many other cars.
I've stood in the pits and heard my unmuffled car go by on the main straight at Summit at 6000 rpm. It sounded quiet compared to almost all the other cars. The V8s and rotary Mazdas are the real noise makers. I bet you'll be fine.

I ran my HP/FP Spridget with a thru-tunnel exhaust, no muffler, with it turned down just in front of the rear axle. It was always one of the quietest cars on the track. Nice thing with the thru-tunnel is off track excursions don't tear it apart.

I AM just kidding here, I am sure there are a hundred or more rules for not doing this and you've come up with an excellent looking solution as it is! ..........how about cutting a small hole in the floor and running the muffler up the passenger side roll bar, have a Semi-stye exhaust?! When you don't need it, just put a small cap/plug over the hole in the floor. Again, just kidding....

what side of the track do they have the sound db meter? It always helps to have your exhaust on the opposite side and turned awwy from the meter.
IMHO
