Jensen Interceptor fuel lines

I was helping a friend install a fuel pump into an Interceptor last night. The fuel lines appear to be a type of plastic or Teflon? Does anyone know what the material is? They seemed to be still good, but plastic will get hard and break with age. I am not sure how long teflon lasts. These cars were build in the early 70s so what was available?

I did have a little cylinder envy! That 440 looked pretty macho!

60's Morgans used plastic fuel line, too. I alwys thought it was simple nylon.... but I've never really checked it out thoroughly. Pretty sure it is available in the morgan crowd for ultimate originality diehards, but most upgrade to steel or annealed stainless lines (classic tube, inline tube). Supposedly copper tubing is bad for fuel lines.

I don't know what they're made of but I can't imagine it was Teflon. (Besides being very expensive in the seventies, the British auto industry would never tolerate a material that doesn't decompose.)

Well, I like that comment! decompose!

I have decided that I like the Interceptors. A british car with a lump of American Iron running it. And to keep the tradition going correctly, the underside of the car has a nice cover of oil.

It is indeed a plastic that gets hard and then fractures when leaned on. Most gets replaced.

As for macho Jensens, I prefer my old CV-8 because it weighs 700 lbs. less than an Interceptor (fibreglass, you know).

The engine I have in it hauls along just dandy!
