Inventing an acronym.. Opinions

It's been relativly nice here for the last few days, and I've taken advantage by pulling the doors off the Jeep whenever possible. So I wanted to make up a doinky Acronym to use for days like these. I've been thinkin something like
DOD Doors Off Day
NDD No Doors Day
or something like that...
And of course for the LBCs something like
TDHO Top Down Heater On
OTHO Open Top Heater On (might work.. pernounced Oh-tho)
and the like
But I think we need a term for these last few days of the open air driving season...
Waddya all got? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

*edit* Mr. Owl... How many beers does it take before an E beomes an O? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I knew this'd be good
hahahahahahahaha
That first one took me a minute Alan. I hadda think "British"

As an Acronym-Allergy-Sufferer I'd say "Doors Off Day".

HOT - Hood Off Today
HOHO - Hood Off Heat On
BOHO - Balmy Out; Hood Off

"Winter's Here And Can Kiss Off!"

WHACKO.

WHACKO, love it.

Seems apt here... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

DOD (doors off day).

The *best* way to fly a small plane...I don't have any pictures of my Aeronca doing this, but you get the idea.

Great in Jeeps too, but not possible in Lotus 7s. Always *seems* like DOD in TR-3s. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

(also, great in my old StepVan where the doors could "disappear" while driving)

James:

On a Cub (like Scott's yellow plane above), the door flops down to get in (and you can leave it down in flight if you like).

If the plane goes into "stall" (flies too slow) that door will suddenly close (because the plane is dropping).
Cub drivers call the horizontally hinged door "an alternate stall-warning device".

And, as soon as that door closes up, the right wing drops and you are looking straight down! (hopefully with at least 500 feet between you and ground so you can get it flying again. Great fun! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Scott: Great picture!...that's just what I was looking for.

Yep. And the sound of the door slamming wakes you up. Sweet planes, both of you.

Too many interests, too little time. I've gotta retire.

R.

Ahhhh, now I want a cub.

pssst... I want one too..
Always wanted a WW1 Bi-plane. I know they're horrible dangerous, expensive, and impossible to find, but they hold a strong allure to me.. I have a life goal to at least ride in one some day. (anybody??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Me too. I'm working on that issue right now, but not one with the folding door. If that doesn't work out I'm going to build a Cub Special.
