Intro and question

Hi Guys,
As a "newbie" to the forum be gentle.
I'll start as I mean to go on with a stupid question. Between which two points does the engine earthing strap fit on a Healey BN7 engine. The reason for such a basic question is I brought the car already stripped and now I'm on the rebuild, after re-furbing' and replacing parts I'm finding I've got bits missing, bits I cant account for or new bits that dont fit. Refering to books and pictures I've taken of restored cars dont show detail down to the level I'm after. I've noted a vertical face on the block joint line, above the sump(at the back of the starter motor, which is threaded and would seem to be a candidate for the engine end of the earth lead.
If correct what does the other end attach to?

Hi DACE and welcome to the forum /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

I have a BJ8 and the strap goes from the starter lower mounting bolt to a threaded hole on the inside of the frame very near the starter area. I would think a BN7 would be similar or the same, and I'm sure one of the experts here will soon add in with clarification. Good luck with your project and post pics when you can /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Yes Dace, The "BN7" can use the same set up as the BJ7/8 cars- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif-Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Velox,
thanks for the info, I will have a look tonight when I lock myself in the garage - the "other half" wants to go to the movies this evening - I can think of better ways to spend the time....

They are a very gentle bunch and the knowledge base is excellent to draw from, I'm new to Healey's and due to some unforeseen (maybe not loking/did not want to see) I have some spanner work to do.

I just want to be a Jedi!

Others have posted the proper "concors answer" I moved mine to go from the frame to the engine just near the rubber engine mount. That way I do not have to remove it if I pull the starter or tranny. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

I believe the ground strap goes from the threaded nut inside the frame to the 1st engine/gearbox bolt immediately below the starter bolt.
