Input on Paint Color

Am considering painting my BJ7 red. I would like to paint it a very bright red that does not have the usual orange hue.

I am leaning toward a late corvette red called "flame red". Please give your suggestions.

Thanks,

Ray

Certainly one of the reddest pure reds was Porsche's Guards Red from some years back.

Note on pigment content, some of the most expensive paints are the yellows and reds due to the pigment weight (see the color of my car for firsthand experience).

Oh my, asking for opinions about a color is like asking for ideas about what to call a new baby. Lots of opinions, and many of them just as good as the others.

If you have your heart set on a bright red, so be it, but Reno Red (as used on Healey Hundreds) was a very, very nice red, slightly dark (far from the orangish Colorado Red), very rich, "very sports car" without being too flashy. (See the June car of the Austin-Healey Club of America's 2007 calendar.)

Hi Ray, Take a look at Michael Oritts car on this forum I think that is a color you might like and he can provide the particulars as to the source.--Fwiw--Keoke

My Jag is painted "Signal Red". Many people have commented on what a pleasant red it is. Easy to locate too.

If we painted our cars in the color most representative of the restoration process, they all would be green.
