I have a goal!

Ok, I finally have the new forum running well enough that I can start back on my EType! I have the front suspension installed, and now I just need to finish the rear suspension so I can install it in the car and finally get it off Jack stands! Today I am putting on the rear brake caliper housings (minus the the calipers/pistons which need to be re-lined). Then, I just need to install new bearings in the rear hubs and clean them up and install those and I'll be ready to put rear wheels on and take the car off the jack stands at least so I can finally rollit out of the garage. I am setting the end of July as the target date to have the car rolling! (work schedule permitting, that is, if I don;t have to go out of town for a long period before then)

Wish me luck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Would that be July of this year?
I wish I was that close with the current project, and certainly wish you the best of luck.

Basil,

Best of luck to you in meeting your goal! I have delayed my project for a while, but I think that it was the right decision to make. It was a financial drain that I didn't need currently, therefore the fun and enthusiasm was getting lost. If you do happen to get sent to let's say, Indiana for instance, I would be happy to provide you with a surrogate project car to keep you motivated! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Again, best of luck, and I'll soon be setting my new goals. By the way, I hope that you are documenting every step with that new camera....

Basil......Wow. Just think how much it would cost if you were having someone else doing the work. I hate to say this but......I'm jumping in my Jag and headed out for a holiday drive. Ah. Life is hard in Goldendale! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Well, I accomplished a little tonight. I managed to get my rear brake calipers installed and the proper number of shims installed to "centralize" the calipers around the disk (sounds easy - NOT). Tomorrow night I start installing the newly rebuilt hand brake calipers. Then, I'll just need to get the rear hubs cleaned up and installed.

Update, the past two days I've been working to get the rear brake calipers installed and centered and also get the hand brake calipers and mechanism installed. I finally finished that task tonight. The hand brake mechanism was a bugger to rebuild and especially to re-install. They always make it sound so easy in the manual - installation is the reverse of removal - oh sure!

Great job! Your hand-brake linkage looks more complicated than the entire rear suspension on my Spridget.
You're going to have a fun when it's done.....when did you drive it last?

Yep, that hand brake gizmo is complex. I was lucky I could figure out how it all went back together after all these years. Last time I drove it was in the mid eighties.
