Yea I know I like to post a bit.

Back in the mid 70's I had reason to part out a bugeye that was very very badly rusted and bent. After completing the breakdown and cleaning up all the parts, not restoreing just cleaning, I had the bucket of nuts, bolts, and clips. So I sent the bucket out and had the whole works galvanized. Yep you got it I found them, all nicely organized in one of those drawer units. Good on me. Now if I could just find some more stuff.

Hi,

Here's how it works for me:

Search all drawers and boxes, based on a vague but insistent recollection that there is something cool stashed away.

Give up search, figuring that the stuff is long gone and was probably not that great anyway.

Buy expensive and shiny new parts at market price, plus shipping.

Find old parts a week after installation of the new parts. Old parts were actually very nice.

Put nice old parts away, cycle starts over again.

Best regards,

I don't have that problem. Nothing I've ever had was "actually very nice"
And I'm to cheap to pay market price for new ones.
OOOOh I think I have a cycle too....

My cycle is :

1) Strip/break/lose part
2) Drive all over town looking for a part that will work in its place
3) Attempt to manufacture part from epoxy, bailing wire, and a wish
4) Beg a friend for part
5a) Buy part off eBay.
5b) Buy part from catalog
6) Goto 1)
