HS2 SU dual carb throttle/choke linkage

Anyone have a picture of the proper way to attach the throttle and choke linkages with the three springs?
I'm putting mine back together and struggling with linking the throttles and chokes.

I find this picture interestng, my 65 only had 2 springs both connected to the rear positions and none to the fuel linkage. The catalogs only mentions 2 which I have hooked up in the same manner in my rebuild. What function does the middle spring serve? I have plenty of tension with two.

I was wondering the same thing last night when I was putting the carbs and heatshield/manifold together. Mine had three springs, but two new ones have plenty of tension. Maybe a safety factor?

The center spring is to provide tension on the gas pedal, overcome possible resistance.
