How rare is my car ?

Hi everyone.
I have own my Daimler Sovereign S1 -72 for a year now. Meanwhile i have search info about the XJ6 S1-model on internet and found a lot of it. I'm a little bit confused over the fact that there is very, very little info about the Daimler-model of XJ6 S1, in fact almost nothing.

Can anyone tell me why.
Is this model so mush more rare than i have realised?

Greetings from a rainy Sweden
Tomas

Hi there Tomas,

Spring here in Alberta hasn't exactly been spectacular either...

Anyway, a Daimler Sovereign is basically a re-badged Jaguar XJ6, I don't believe there are any mechanical differences at all.

They were sold as an up-scale Jaguar to help keep the Daimler brand-name going. The only rarity is that they would have made less of them in comparison to the Jaguar XJ6.

So in short, for any servicing and/or repair manuals, just tell people that it's a Jaguar XJ6. By the way... based on the year you stated your car would be an XJ6 S1 (er... Daimler Sovereign), have always liked that style of XJ6 the best of the older ones.

Hi Tomas,

Depends whether or not your car is a long-wheelbase model. They made 11,522 short-wheelbase Daimler 4.2 cars, but only 386 long-wheelbase Daimler Ser 1 4.2 litre cars.

Thankyou all.
My car is a SWB. The reason why i asked it is not that i wished it was rare, i love my car even if every people on earth has one. I was just curiouse because the lack of info on internet.
I got a phonecall today from a man who has one, good enough to have has a sparepart-store.....only 100 km from me !!
So tomorrow i hav two of them.

Sorry for the way i use the English language, but i'm doing my best.

Your English is very good!!! You are able to make yourself understood, and that is all that counts. They may have made a lot of Ser 1 Daimler Sovereigns, but not that many of them have survived this long, so whichever way you look at it, you certainly do have a rare car. You just don't see them that often any more! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Now to really debate rarity...

Is it a left-hand-drive Daimler Sovereign?

There is a mid-1970's left-hand-drive Sovereign S2 in Ontario, privately imported into Canada from Switzerland. I think there are a fair number of Sovereign's here in North American but I'd guess that 99.9% of them are right-hand-drive.

Until I can communicate in Swedish better than you can communicate in english, I'll refrain from correcting your english. Basicly, your safe from me for the rest of my natural life. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
