How do you post a link to an older post/thread?

The search function is a black hole to new users. Often I'd like to post a link to an older thread that addresses a new post. How do you do it? For example: #784345 - 07/21/11 03:06 PM Transmission Removal/Replacement
Getting there by using the search function is tedious at best even if you know how to use the search function advanced options. I'd like to use a direct link for this. Help please.

Just go to the top of your web browser when you're on the page to which you want to post a link. Highlight the URL,right click and hit "copy" Then just paste that into the text of the new post, like this:

If you want to get really fancy, you can first click on the second button from the left on the top of the posting window, which says "Create a link to a webpage" when you hover over it. This will open a window that says "Enter the complete URL for the webpage you wish to add" Highlighted in blue will be "https://" Delete that and paste th URL from your linked page. Once the URL is pasted, hit "OK" A new window will open and you can retitle the thread to whatever you want: Like this: Tim's Super Fantastic Tranny Replacement Thread That Makes Me Happy I Don't have to do That Anymore

BTW, that's a very useful thread although it too clearly reminds me of the fun of trying to line up the tranny and overdrive so that it will slide in.


If you can't find an assistant (read "sucker") to help lift the rear of the tranny and guide it in (my wife consistently refuses to be helpful in this regard) , I've found this Harbor Freight transmission jack to be useful. https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-...jack-39178.html

If the "HTTP://" is highlighted, I just paste in the address (Ctrl +V, or right click, paste) for Windows users)). Pasting replaces the highlighted text. It is when the "HTTP://" isn't highlighted that the trouble starts. You'll have something like
