T-Series How do we mount a TD engine on an engine stand?

I just got the engine over to my place. Car has been her for 2 months now. (Wow that little 4 banger is heavy!) I need to get it on a stand to pull the pan off. That only leaves bolts on the top of the bell housing to carry all that weight. I can see that I will need to make an adapter plate; but is their any other tricks or procedures I must know? Do I need to support the front maybe? Any help here would be appreciated.Thank you.

Scoll about halfway down, you'll see how he attached the stand to the upper holes and the holes right above the sump parting line.

I have one on a stand right now. Actually a TC engine but it's basically the same thing. Just use four of the five bolt holes and quality bolts. Remember it's Metric thread, 8x1mm which is NOT the same as the typical 8x1.25mm you get from the local hardware store.

Of course I'm making no assumptions or guarantees about the condition of your block, the quality of the bolts you use, etc. But that's how most people do it.

The same studs that hold the intake and exhaust manifold also work quite well. You need 4. Use wasers to take up the extra space if needed.

Wow, thank you, everyone. Info overload. Besides all your help, there are countless links and sites. There are virtual books written here about rebuilding these cars. Amazing and engrosing. I feel as though I have already rebuilt an entire car with all I have read this AM. I need a cigarette; and I don't even smoke. How did anybody succeed in these projects before this technology?!?

I'm not so sure hanging the engine by the side of the cylinder head would be a good idea.

Duh? Take the studs out of the head and screw them into the back of the block. They are the same size,or buy 4 new ones.
