My brakes went out a week or two ago and I had to send the servo out to be rebuilt. I rebuilt the master cylinder while I was at it.

I also figured I would go ahead and replace the rear cylinders , rebuild the calipers and replace the brake lines.

So now, I was looking at the work I am going to have to do for this and how much of the car I am going to have to take off and figured I might as well replace the rubber bits on the rear suspension.

Any recommendations on which materials or parts to go with? Rubber, urethane, any others? Are there any kits that would make the ordering process easier?

Jack,

Yes, there are kits available.
I replaced everything in the rear
suspension with rubber. I bought
everything from The Roadster Factory
and some of the components came in
kits. The differential kit was great
and particularly helpful.

My vote is go with rubber.

Rubber for road use.

Plastic-type for competition definitely. Beware, there are more than one of the plastic type materials.

you MUST use Goodparts adjustable rear suspension brackets with the Nylatron(spelling?) bushing. I THINK.

It made a huge improvement.

Check out the rest of the Good Parts stuff.

There are many different "grades" of urethane bushings, including equivalents (in softness/compliance) to the original rubber bushings. Sadly, many currently available rubber bushings simply do not hold up as well as the originals did. Urethane does not seem to have that problem.

Polys in the trailing arm bushings will not decrease ride comfort but will greatly increase the stability of the trailing arms.

thanks for the help. Any advice on which poly set to get? The car is a tr6 and it is just used as a run around car. Not really looking to sacrifice ride for performance but I want to get the most use out of a set before I replace them.

The cheaper polys appear to 'oval' out fairly quickly and lose their ability to keep the rear arms in check. At that point they are no better than rubber bushings. The Nylatron stuff works pretty well. Goodparts, Moss, TRF...
