Hi All,
I am new here but not new to playing with cars. My newest one is a 1967 BJ8 that needs some help. The first thing I am playing with is the bad booster. I have removed it and plan on replacing it sometime in the future. I want to by pass it for now but I am very confused. The booster had two lines that were attached to the brake system. One of the lines went to a T block that has the brake light switch and the other went to a junction block the has 3 lines attached. I thought all I have to do is run a lines from the light switch block down the the junction block. Easy? Well that appears to be a special line with different ends. Has anyone did this before??? Am I doing this wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated..
Thanks,
JerseyJoe

Do you have a moss catalog? If not, you can look online ( I'm assuming you don't have the service manual which is handy for situations like these) but if you look at the Moss "brake pipes" page you can see that there is a three way pipe connector that connects the line from the master cylinder, the brake light switch and the servo on the "input" side of the servo, and the output of the servo then goes to a four way that distributes the brake fluid out to the wheels (with the line to the rears being the single line and each front getting its own line).

Thank you for the reply...the Moss picture is what I was trying to say. Thanks..but I need to install a pipe that connects the block that has the light switch to the 4 way block. How does one make it? What should the ends be...inverted flare? Sorry for all of the questions

Don't you have the pipes that were attached to the booster? Just match the junction box ends of each pipe coming out of the booster with the ends of the pipe you are making.

I believe all the pipes (except at the servo) are inverted flares. Healey Surgeons will make custom pipes for around $25 each. Just tell them what you want to do. They'll know what flares you need, too.

You can buy a basic tubing-cutting & flaring kit rather inexpensively at any auto parts store. As said they also sell varying lengths of pipe. After a bit of practice, it's quite easy to do. Why pay shipping & higher prices IMO.

Hi Joe,
Be aware that the master cylinders are different for boosted and non-boosted cars. So removing the booster without changing the master cylinder's diameter will result in greater effort to brake the car.
