Help Bleeding the Brakes

Hi all. After bypassing the servo, I'm needing to bleed the brakes. I've never done this before so it's all new to me. I checked the manual, but am still confused. Do I need to remove the wheels? Then I have to tighten the adjuster? Do I start with the rear passegner wheel and work to the front wheels? Finally, do I need a special tube to connect to the bleed valve? If so, what kind? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.

Thanks,
-Brandon

Well, I've got most of it figured out.I have removed the rear wheels and will be starting furthest away from the MC.

I know I need a hose to connect to the bleeder valve, but what size do I need to get?
My other question is do I need to do anything to the adjusters and if so, how do I access them?

Thanks!
-Brandon

Hi Brandon,
Plumbing-wise, the rear left side cylinder is the furthest from the MC. Not as the crow flies (or hops in this case).

Ah, you're right. Thanks.

Do you know what size the hose is that I connect to the bleeder valve?

You can buy gadget at NAPPA that has a plastic tube and several different size adapters and includes a check valve to prevent backflow. This makes bleeding much simpler.

Hey Brandon! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Its mighty quiet down there in the Valley, you got those brakes done yet??.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, since I didn't have the proper hose yet, I took a break to go to the FBR here in Scottsdale. I'm so worn out after all that walking around that it may have to wait till tomorrow when my wife will be able to helpe me out (or maybe next weekend as we'll be getting ready for our Super Bowl party). I'll update once I get started on it. Thanks for all the help!

I've got the rear brakes bled but am having a difficult time with the front. Where exactly is the bleed screw? I have a diagram from my book, but it's not helping. My front brakes are pretty dirty so that may be why I can't find it. Could someone please tell me exactly where the bleed screw is(a picture would help too)? Do I need to remove a dust cover to find it?

Thanks!

Nope Brandon, they are not covered. Just clean things up and you will probably find them there on top of the caliper.--Keoke

Wow, my Healey book made it look like they were hidden somewhere else.

Thanks, I got the brakes bled. Put the wheels back on and ried to start the car and it wouldn't start. Then the battery started going. I jumped it, now its cranking, but it won't start. Any recomendations?? I'm not sure what it could be.

Well Brandon,Check for spark at the plugs and fuel at the input to the carbs.Have a good look at the points make sure they are set correctly and open and close, also look at the rotor to see if any white discoloration shows on it any where you might change it if you have a good spare.---Keoke
