I do not need another car. But there is a GT6 sitting at a body shop just outside of town. Looks like it was painted and left on the lot. Been there since August. Has not moved.

I drive by it about twice a week.

Paint looks fine. But the 12" of snow covering the car would hide that now. Nothing listed for sale locally.

Thinking I might stop by tomorrow and just ask what the story is. Wonder what's up......

That's a tough question (what they should go for). I've got a pretty '68 (not for sale) that my agreed insurance coverage has grown over many years to $12,500. Think that's ball park to what good ones are worth but not certain I could get that if I actually ever tried (my wife will find out when I'm gone). I really enjoy driving GT6's but should point out they're better for spring and fall use. Interior gets a little uncomfortable in the middle/late summer.

The Gt's were sweet cars Randy.
It might push the Stallion out of the garage

That was my dream car back in high school in the sixties. Still really like the lines.

Hot little beasties in the summer, though.

Beautiful car Jay.

Our '67 is also beastly hot in the summer. Though the car (now) has a working heater, it did not have one when my wife drove it in high-school. As such, my wife loves the car in spring and fall but doesn't touch it at other times. I consider our car an older restoration, mechanically sound but needing a new paint job. Though ours won't be for sale until all interested family members are dead... I would consider the value of our car to be around $6k to $7k. As above, that doesn't mean I could ever find someone willing to pay that for the car.

Dumb newb question: what's parts support like for the GT6 in the US? Things like interior bits and detail finish items. Headliner for example.
Most sites seem to list parts for the more standard models: TR3, TR4, TR6, etc. Will Spitfire parts cross ref with the GT6?
There's a major project for sale near me, with a lot of good parts, and some of the work already done, but I'm worried about availability of the rest. They are nice looking cars. I had a BGT in college and that was nice, but I always thought the GT6 was nicer looking.
Thanks for any info.

Just like a Spitfire parts are plentiful. Never had a problem finding what I need, internet and mags.

I've found the availability of GT6 parts has never been better - yes you'll be able to find that headliner (but if you're missing the stays then like for so many old cars you'll be looking everywhere and anywhere you can). Not only are Spitfire parts used on GT6's, things like windshields (Mk1's and Plus's) and door hinges are the same on TR4's and even 6's. I'll add that owning one is a blast but like so many other models in the old car hobby, it's a poor investment. I've had mine 30 years and driving it still makes me smile.

Thanks. I'm a bit concerned that the 'basket case' GT6 is too much $ (asking), and I'd be into it for a lot more than it's worth by the time it was back on the road. But, as you mention - it's probably not a good investment in any event. I guess that's why it's called a hobby. I try to tell my wife that people spend more on golf than I do on my 'hobby', but somehow it doesn't compute with her.

Jay - very nice line up of cars in your photobucket! I would guess Victory Red on them, but not sure. My first car was a '66 4A.

Well, I stopped and talked to the guys. No one really knows what the story is with this car. They did take my name and number and the owner is supposed to call me.
