MGB-GT GOD do I miss my 67 BGT...

My very first car was a 1967 MG BGT with chrome wire wheels and chrome bumpers. I drove it while I was in college, and eventually sold it to a collector in St George Utah. I miss it terribly. I will have another MGB soon! Anyone else have a BGT here?

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum! Good luck on your search, once you own one they get into your blood. I am currently restoring my first MG, I own a 74 BGT (hence the clever name). My father has always been a LBC fan, ranging from Triumph TR's and Spits, to MGB's to Sprites to E-types. By far and away we've owned more B's than any other...just simple simple and fun about them. Glad you joined the forum!

My first car was a '58 Hillman Minx. Try to top that for obscurity. But I fell in love with a '67B that everyone who worked at Bartgis Union 76 in Richmond, VA owned at one time or another (except me). About 3 yrs. ago, I bought a '70 (according to the title, '71 by Moss' car number list) B/GT. Great car, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get up to 4500 rpm. Right now it tops out about 3500 and runs out of breath. I think it's a timing issue (retarded to avoid detonation), but according to David K. it also needs a valve adjustment.

Greg,

Don't think the valve adjustment has anything to do with the car running out of breath at 4500 rpm. Not sure whats wrong, but we could take it for a test drive and I could diagnose what could be the cause of the power loss.

With stock air cleaners and a 265 degree cam my car will rev to a bit over 6000 rpm, but I don't do that very often !!
