...so I'm inside the MG with the hardtop in place, merrily adhering carpet bits to the interior surfaces with Weldwood laminate adhesive... A friend rolls up so I figger it's time to stretch and take a break... Unfold meself outta the car, stand up, and WHOA!! Bedspins!!

...needless to say: Just past noon, so my buddy reaches out and hands me a cold one to give me an excuse for the condition.

...watch out fer that glue, kiddies. WHEEEEE!!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

I did somewhat the same when I was about fifteen years old. I was painting a 1927 Buick and woke up outside the shop lying on the grass. Which cement are you spraying? I've been using the Landau top cement with good results.

Ha, when about 18 was spraying laquar in side a large boat. Wheeeee.

Used to inspect on bridge painting jobs. Seen many a bridge painting crew get fume happy!

I'm applying this with a brush, didn't realise I'd been exposed as long as that... all was fine 'til I stood up.

Now it's 4:30, so time for the second beer! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

...oh, and the carpet is coming along nicely, too.

it's all "fuzzy side up" ... right? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

So far...

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif Gee, the pile isn't very deep on this carpeting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Been there, done that - a time or 2....hehehehe

3M General purpose has a good bite to it, but nothing like that contractor grade stuff that looks like rubber cement and comes in a 1 gallon can.(probably the same stuff you were using Doc.) WHOOOPIEEEE!!!! I liked doing those carpet installs...
Hey bosssch howshhh disssshhh ??? I coverredaa hhhole ting widd rug.... I wassshhh onaroll!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif been there a few times....Most recent was last summer installing new carpet in my MGA...The kids were really eager to help out that day.

yeah, Ben, that's th' stuff. One shot at placement. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Got shellacked once while I was doing a house restoration in the middle of winter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif (Using real schellac & methanol)

Ever hear about the Darwin award for the guys stripping old vinyl wallpaper with gas?
They opened the door to get rid of the fumes during the winter and tripped the thermostat.
The resulting blast blew all the windows out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
(and them also)

I add this tip wherever I can- strip wallpaper with the cheapest fabric softener you can find and warm water- mixed 2 parts water to 1 part softener. It works spectacularly.

Anyhoo, I had a model glue incident back in the day (like when I was twelve) I remember waking up on the lawn...but nothing about the model.

I also had some lacquer incidents (plural) in my dorm room when working on restoring a shotgun (get that- college dorm room, lacquer, shotgun...those were the days).

Now I have to rely solely on massive amounts of Vicodin...wait...did I type that out loud? I mean...I'm just high on life!!!

sooooooooo, Doc... in your own words... we want pics! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When/if I get it all down nice and neat. I spent my "MG time" today putting in the defroster ducting and heater controls. Applied the carpet and upholstery to the panels ~outside~ the car. Had a funky blower switch... disassembled it and cleaned it up. Sure wish MODERN equipment were that simple.

I ~LOVE~ LUCAS electrics!!!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

You are very right, at least it is mostly fixable.

Is that the glue talking?

Nope... and I agree! I think lucas electronics are genius. Anytime you can take a switch apart and clean it for free, as opposed to buying a replacement one for $50 or more, it's a good thing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I know, it was just too good of an opportunity to pass up.

I love my Lucas electrics too! After sitting for 8 years, the only electical probelem on my car was a buggery contact for a side marker!
