One of the reasons it made no financial sense to go to LoO without a car was that I got to keep the money I would have spent for my next journey - My wife, daughter and I flew into Edinburgh today for 2 weeks (Son is planting trees in Northern Alberta for the summer.)

all the cars here have the steering wheel on the wrong side.

saw lots of names I recognized - Ford/ Audi/ Mercedes/ but there the similarity ends. And of course a few other names Peugeot, Renault, Seat etc. etc.

So far have seen 3 old minis (one for sale £1000) and some cool Land Rovers

AND have bought a bunch of parts off ebay - local shipping

fuses
connectors
MG T shirt
bentley gas cap
engine & body decals

bidding on a few others and deciding on a couple more

and I plan to go here:

https://www.svvc.co.uk/svvc/

will keep you posted

20 years ago I could buy one a few years old for that price or a new one for 2200 quid, but here they are a treasure. I found an old mini pickup and it was a rust bucket here and the guy wanted near $5000 for it. He was sending it to a body shop, no telling what he will get when he is done with it. Too rich for my blood. I had at least 5 of them in 2 years over there, the junkers that would not pass MOT were almost free and those same cars here could make me rich.

So, we took the bus into town today - first time in a double decker - top of course. Saw a motorcade coming at us an realized almost too late it was the Queen - very nice Rolls - very sharp with the flags. Saw a Vantage with the top down - nice. Did the city tour - my only criteria for tour company was that I had to ride in the oldest bus - Old Routemaster - again top floor - much fun.

will try and post some pics when I get at a digital camera from my daughter

I really do have to pack a camera - saw my first real life MGF last night and a Maestro - though I think it was Rover. and a TVR - certainly figure out in a big old hurry why LBC's are better suited to this topography than Interstates

Well, it's been a great time so far - had a major road trip - got to ride in a Rover 75 stretch - pretty cool - have seen a steady number of Minis, a lot of SMART sports cars, a new TVR, a few Moggies an immense Rolls and a tiny A30.

Today however was the icing on the cake. Went to the Scottish Transport Extravaganza at Glamis Castle. This is the largest transport show in the country and they had everything! Bicycles - Motorcycles - Steam Engines - Trucks - Cars Military - European - you name it. Then a further 200 booths of everything from car parts to gypsy fortune tellers and everything in between.

It was much fun. Only about 1/3 of the cars were there which was plenty for me to see - I suspect most will be there tomorrow. Interestingly, only two square bodies and 2 BE's - there may be more tomorrow. Actually I only saw a few B's, and I don't think any TR6's - But LOTS of everything else.

Here are some pics

cheers all
