Front end question

Hey all. I'm wondering if anyone here has had the type of front end problem. Whenever I go over a series of pumps it feels like the front end is sliding all over. Would this be caused by "old" shocks? I saw on victorybritish's web site I can purchase oil to recharge the shock. Is this a difficult procedure? Thanks for all your help!

My Frog was all over the place when I first got her, it seemed as if the smallest pot hole or a slug on the road would send it veering off in a randum direction.
Upon inspection all my rubber bushes in the lower arms were perrished. There is a lot of rubber in there (or should be).
Everything should only move up & down, any sideways movement & it'll handle like a pig.

Before blaming the shocks, check all the rubber bits up front.
Then the king pins.
I replaced all the rubber with quality polyeurathane bushes. I also did the king pins at the same time. It's now beautiful to drive.

Good luck

if you need to add oil, that means the oil went somewhere (they should not leak at all) - to add oil is not to difficult (just have to be a bit of a contortionist) however rebuilt shocks are the final solution if losing oil, talk to Peter at https://www.nosimport.com/
he does the best work on these shocks & you will never have to worry about them again.

Worn Front suspension, typically worn fulcrum pins, worn shocks. Look in the MOSS Catalog for tech tips in the back on checking front suspension or follow the posts over the past few weeks from Tulsa Fred who we've been helping resolve his front end problems.

Shocks, it takes more than shocks but Peter Caldwell is the man at

Do not go to any other vendor. Peter C is the one and only source to work with on shocks. NFI just a happy customer. Take a look at the MOSS info on checking front suspension play and then give us some additional details.

Thanks for the info, Cris. I'm on a mialing list for car stuff in the area and don't believe they mentioned it. I'm committed for the Flatwater Austin Healey car show this weekend anyway. Steve (tulemore)(sp) may be there since hes in Ames. I regularly go thru your town on my way to visit my daughter in Cedar Rapids. I would'nt mind stopping to take a look at your sprite up close sometime??
Have fun on the cruise!

Kurt.
