TR6 Follow-on question regarding new TR6 tires...

Got plenty of solid tire recommendations for replacing the redlines from the forum. Most of them involved going with a 205/70 from the 185's. During a conversation with the mechanic while he fixed my flat michelin, he mentioned that while the 205 is a great aesthetic tire for a TR, you stand a better than average chance of tire rub in the wheel well with two adults and a suitcase in the car. He said it's not really a problem, but you WILL experience it nonetheless. Any thoughts?

I dispute that opinion also. I have had a heavy tool box and two large passengers in car with no problems at all in front or rear. I've never seen any issues posted by owners using the 205 tires.

I'm running with 205/70/15 on the original rims. We just came back from driving 1000 miles along the beaches in New England and not once did I expierence any tire rub.

Never had a rub from my tires, and lets be honest , how much luggage can you really get into one of these cars, an overnight bag with a change of clothes and some nighties for the Lady in the passenger seat?

I purchased a set of Yokohama A536's to replace the same sized worn ones a few years ago (size is 195/60R15), and I have no complaints. Fitted to original rims.
