Pretty obvious to everybody who owned a healey for a little while, but we just found out there just are some things you can't do without when taking the Healey out for a spin... Your knock-off wrench and hamer!
We just had our first flat and it looks like it's not going to be the last one either... The tire was completely torn. I guess it had been sitting in storage a little bit too long before we bought it two months ago.
We'll buy 4 new tires and have the spare checked, just to be sure.
Anybody suggestions on what brand/type? What is original to the car?

We also found out that the Moss knock-off wrench worked pretty well, altough it's too long when using on a flattire. It can't make a full spin because it just sits too low on the ground.

But all together it was a good learning experience again, it took only 15 minutes to change the tire. We already love the knock-off wheels!

Hi Miranda you might want to check with Hendrix Wire Wheel in North Carolina. I just got new wheels and tires from them and they are good folks. You can go to Harbor Freight right off Tibet Ave in Savannah and get a no bounce hard rubber hammer that is filled with lead shot, they work well on the knock off`s without damaging them Skip.

If you are planning on replacing your tires with 165-15 tires (the standard size on many of these cars), here's a link to some very reasonable Nankang tires. I have set of these (different size) on another car and I'm happy with them.

Otherwise, you might try: www.tirerack.com
They have a huge selection of brands.

Either way, if you buy tires via the internet, be sure you have a place that will install them on wire wheels. Some places may not install on wire wheels unless you buy from them (personally, I prefer to do this job myself "manually", using tire irons).

Hi Miranda, since you may be contacting Henrix Wire Wheel,I would suggest that you purchase Two of their soft lead hammers one to beat up in the garrage and the other to carry in the Boot, These are guranteed not to damage the chrome on the Knock Off.--FWIW---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif
