Does anyone know, on a '69 Spitfire...

would electrical smoke coming out of the cowl vents be anything other than the blower motor?

does anyone have a blower motor for sale for a '69 Spitfire?

Seriously, I'd start by checking what is working, and what isn't. It sounds like it might be from the blower motor, but it may be from something else. There's alot of wiring under the dash. If the motor smoked, it probably won't spin. If it isn't to difficult to remove, take it out and give it the sniff test. You will know right away if it burnt up.

What color is the smoke? The only other thing I can think it could be is a possible antifreeze leak. But you would notice puddles forming.
Regardless, don't use the heater.

are you saying you don't want the smoke coming thru the vents?? I thought that was normal for Triumphs.......
When there is a problem with electrical motors they seem to let go fairly quickly, unless the fan itself is making contact with something and is getting hot and burning??

yeah, as i am buttoning up the dash restoration and electrical resurrection projects...i get this. the dash is all back together, the lights and gauges all work. the blower motor worked BEFORE i put the dash board in place.

white smoke from the cowl vents, definitely burning electrics, not the pungent aroma of burning coolant. I know the difference between those two.

all of my gauges work, all of the lights appear to be working. T'ain't much else to fail. I have just never had the cowl apart, so I do not know if there is some mystery component there.

ok - tonight the blower comes out. sniff test to follow.

anyone willing to offer a replacement?

So, the blower motor came out this weekend, and on to the bench. hooked her up for a bench test, and she ran just fine....several minutes of run time with no illusions of issues. Ran like a champ, as a matter of fact.

looked inside the heat box, and saw nothing else that might have produced an electrical smoke puff. no sign of leaking coolant either.

Guess everything has to go back in place to see where the issues are.
