Hi,
I don't normally post in this part of the board but I have a question I'm hoping one of you can answer.
It is my understanding that the early- to mid-1980s XJ6 used an electronic speedometer with a sending unit that was mounted either on the tail of the gearbox or the differential (depending on the year). To the best of my knowledge, those cars were the only ones that MAY have had an electronic speedometer transducer that fits most of the other British cars (which typically had cable driven speedometers).
I have been asked if there is an off-the-shelf speedo transducer for MGs and Triumphs that can work with AutoMeter and VDO programmable speedometers. The Jag part is the only one that comes to mind.
Do any of you know the thread size on the inside of the transducer mounting nut? If not, do you happen to have a gearbox or differential where the transducer has been removed where you could measure the male threads where the transducer would mount?
I'm hoping that the transducer nut will be threaded either 3/4-26 or M19x1.
Thanks for any help and measurements you can offer.
