Some of the carpets pieces down by the foot well are still original but really faded. Does anyone have a good way/product to dye these back to black? The carpets were replaced at some point except these small bits. They are in great shape so it is not worth it to purchase a new kit just for a few pieces.

I dyed my seatbelts using Rit dye (grocery store, cleaning aisle). They looked great... for about a month /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Truth be told, I yanked them out because at 30 years of exposure, I didn't trust them anymore.

You can buy rattle-can spray dye at most auto parts houses; it works well on areas that don't get a lot of wear.

WIll this wear off? It is down in the foot wells and I'd hate to have my white sneakered friends have black smudgies all over them.
