Differences in Slave Cylinders for 948/1098 & 1275

Gentlemen:

I looked in the Moss catalogue and it lists two different lengths for the push rods (that attach to the clutch fork) for 948/1098 and the 1275. It also lists two dirrent Slave cylinders for 948/1098 and 1275, noting that the bore of the 1275 slave is bigger than 948/1098.

Are there any other differnces in slave cylinders? Is the 1275 SC longer? Does it give more or less travel on pushrod?

I currently have a 1275 engine and tranny in my 1960 BE, but I think I'm running a smaller slave and push rod. I'm thinking of upgreading - if that make any difference.

Any input would be helpful.

Changing to a bigger diameter SC will lower the force that you need to push on the clutch peddle, running a smaller diameter SC will require you to push harder on the clutch peddle. Not too much other difference but a smaller diameter SC COULD give you too much SC travel which COULD hurt your pressure plate, the opposite direction COULD not give you enough travel. It depends on lots of things about which situation could occur.

The early slave takes a 3/16 solid pipe from master to slave with 3/8-24 threads and a single flare at both ends.

The 1275 takes a rubber hose at the slave using a copper gasket at the slave, and 1/4 pipe and 7/16-20 single flare fittings at each end of the pipe from the hose to the master. More volume capacity.

Thanks guys.

All important information. Especially since I'm running the dual MC, so I'd need to put all new pipes in from the MC to SC if I was to switch, correct?
