Defective replacement Leaf Springs?

After installing a new set of leafs (74 Midget) orderred thru VB I was pleased at the roughly 2" rear ride height increase that resulted. Less than 500 miles later they have sagged to about the same low height as the 34 year old originals. Frequently bottoming out. Assuming the vendor says tough luck you're stuck with them I then have an old original set (worn) and a new set (insufficient arc).

What should I do guys, get a set re-arched or re-order from perhaps the UK. If I re-arch how do I determine what to instruct the spring shop to do (they will not have specs on MGs) AND should I re-arc the originals or the new set?

Thanks for your opinions.

From what i've been reading, you're probably better off getting your originals re arched. The problem is reported to be chinese (dung fired) steel. Both Mo#$ and VB have the same source, and the springs from England are being made from the same (dung fired) chinese steel. The spring specs are in "the book"...

The data for Sprite MK III is 375# working load, 4.437" free camber. I don't see new data beyond that so am assuming it is the same for later cars? (to 1974)

Replace the plastic stips in the original springs. I gave up buying replacement springs from the "usual suspects" some time ago!! Repairing the originals will usualy bring them back close to original height.
