I was driving the Austin Taxi the other day. I have used water wetter to cool the engine and the temp gauge indicated about 160 degrees. Since replacing the injection pump and using Prestone of some other, green, coolant the gauge indicates 180 degrees. I don't think I changed the thermostat, although the shop may have. My question is: Can the kind of coolant changed the temperature by twenty degrees? T.T.
 
Probably. Water wetter claims 10-15 (or more) degrees difference.
 
I run distilled water & water wetter for the best cooling.

Be advised, there is no boiling temperature elevation other than offered by the pressurized system. (and no freeze protection)
 
I run 50% tapwater from a garden hose 50% glycol antifreeze and a bottle of water wetter - in all my cars.
