Is it possible to convert my 1971's narrow rear track width to the later, wider rear track available from '73 on. Moss only shows seperate parts for the half shafts (narrow for '71 and '72, wide for the rest). The remaining parts in the rear suspension only list one set of parts with no distinction for year or width. This leads me to hope that all I have to do is change a couple parts and Bingo!
I would like to do this for appearance reasons really, I prefer the look of the wheels flush with the body instead of sunken in the car. If this is a simple swap of some components, then I would tackle this (most of the stuff back there needs going through anyway). If it requires cutting and welding then I'll forget about it.
As a side note, I have noticed that my rear brake lines rub on the half shaft and have divets worn in them (Not Good!). I must assume that they are the longer ones for the wide track Spitfires and drape too much.
