Does anyone know how to keep cats off cars. They visit me at night and leave small scratches and sand on my paint if I don't have the cover on.

If you don't mind getting your car wet for a while, get a "scarecrow" sprinkler head. Anything that moves within the preset range will get soaked. Just remember to shut if off before you try and go to work in the morning! I can personally vouch that this is one product which works even better than advertised.

Another option is setting the alarm extra sensative but the neighbors may not be too happy after a couple nights.
 
I had a similar problem, so I bought a cheap car cover (Victoria British or JC Whitney). It's inconvenient to remove and replace the cover, but it's worth it to save the paint. Don't try using the big blue plastic tarps. They'll scratch your car worse than the cats.
 
Car covers dont always do the trick, and can make the problem worse. It gives a cat something to really claw into, and their claws are much longer than the cover is deep. Plus, if a cat really takes a liking to the cover they may claw it up which will also result in damaged paint. The only sure way to prevent claw marks is to keep the car indoors, especially at night when most cats are active. If you can't keep it indoors and try the cover route, get a thick cover. Another option is to buy one of those car tents which is sort of a cloth garage. You can enclose them on all sides.
 
Buy a dog and leave it tied up to the car!

Use a car cover, then go to PetSmart and buy some of that stuff that is designed to keep pets off furniture (I can't recall what its called, but cats don't like the smell.)

Something that I've tried to keep cats away (not off a car, but just away from an area) is sprinkling powdered ginger all over. We kept them out of the garage by just sprinkling the ginger along the ground. Obviously a rainstorm will ruin it, but it might be worth a try. Maybe sprinkle some on the ground surrounding the car.

By the way, if you try it, let me know if it works. Maybe the cat will just jump over it.
 
AN ANIMAL TRAP WILL WORK! YOU PUT A CAN OF TUNA IN THE TRAP AND CATCH THE CAT AND THEN TAKE IT FOR A LONG RIDE IN YOUR LITTLE BRITISH CAR. YOU KNOW, SOMEWHERE FAR AWAY AND NOT NEAR CIVILIZATION. LET THE LITTLE BEAST OUT AND ITS 50/50 WHETHER THEY SURVIVE. BETTER THAN THE 9MM.

videotape the cat on your car and sue its owner for damages. That will definitely get their attention. ANYONE WHO OWNS ANY KIND OF PET SHOULD KEEP IT IN THEIR HOUSE OR THEIR OWN YARD. PERIOD.
