canvas/fabric top or vinyl?

Hey guys,

vinylTop on the old Bugeye is going south. Anyone have experience on the look of both a fabric top and tonneau cover.
I know, it's more expensive, but on other British Cars around here in St. Louis, those tops look great.

I've always wondered if, given the cost, there is a meaningful extension in life expentancy between the two. My hunch is not. I'd pay more IF I was going to go with a color, otherwise not.

I have a good friend who owns a Spitfire.
He bought the Mohair top for his car.
Nice top, but a LOT more $$$.

I have a mohair and it is just beautiful.

A good vinyl hood looks good and is easier to fit. Obviously, if you want an original look, go with the thicker material. I bought the Moss hood, and it looks fine.

The original stuff was vinyl and was thin.

I can't see spending the bucks for the more expensive tops. In my experience, they look tatty after 5 years anyhow. So why not go cheap from the gitgo and replace every five years with the cheaper version? Besides, it's going to be down most of the time.

BillM recently got one, I think it was from "easyfit" or something like that.
Nice top that fits right from my view and not too expensive.
I'll check on the vendor name and get back to you - unless Bill sees this first.
