brake & clutch master cylinder question

I've got my clutch & brake master cylinders out right now. 1966 BJ8.

The rods that go from the pedal linkage to the cylinders are different... what surprised me is that my brake cylinder's rod has threads on it. I guess it's for pedal adjustment.

I would think the clutch rod would be adjustable, not the brake... did a previous owner switch these? They seem a bit similar otherwise.

Could someone confirm which rod is supposed to be threaded?

I'm not sure but I think both of mine are the same and they are straight and smoothe, no adjustment. If you bleed everything up snug, you don't need an adjustment. Well maybe for pedal height, i've never had to worry about that. Did you find a shim between the master and the firewall bulkhead. I had just one, couldn't remember which cylinder it was under, so I took a guess. had no effect. According to Keoke ( wonder where he is ) it's not needed.

Found the answer on the healeys mailing list... the threaded rod is indeed for the brakes... to make the pedal same height as the clutch (which is not adjustable). Makes sense!
