When adjusting the mixture nuts on the carbs, with the carbs in the car, do counterclockwise adjustments lean out the mixture or vice versa?

Baby Blue is running really nicely today after readjusting the valves last night. :fat: Just hoping to get the mixture correct.
 
You wind them so they go "up".

Another way to express that is to wind them counterclockwise when looking down on the carb.

A reasonable place to start is to wind them all the way up and then unwind them (clockwise as looking down on the carb) two full turns.

This 'two turns" adjustment is also referred to as "12 flats". Some books will say something like "drop the jet 12 flats" for basic setting.
 
Ok...I'm doing the right thing. Phew! Thanks for the quick response. I had the carbs last set on a 30 degree day last. It's sunny and 70 in D.C. today. You better believe Baby Blue is going to be on the road today!
