BN1 shocks

I am currently rebuilding a BN1. I have removed the front shocks and want to know if there is a way to test them. They do not leak but I am wondering if I should have them rebuilt while I have everything a part. If I have them rebuilt any suggestions on who does that type of work? Thanks

Hi Dogs, welcome to the forum. There was a good discussion about checking shocks, oil for them, and who to have rebuild them, a few days ago, here’s the link: https://www.britishcarforum.com/ubbthread...amp;Search=true - Post199862

You can use the search feature at the bottom of the AH discussion page to search through past topics. Good luck, DAR100

If you look at Dave Russel's response of 04/11/06 12:26 PM he gives contact info for "nosimport"

It's pretty hard to tell by feel how good the shock is. I was surprised at how much stiffer a newly rebuily shock feels in comparison to an "apparently good" shock. I would just have Peter C. at nosimport rebuild them on general principles. I think the cost is around $70 each, exchange. The result is amazing.

Just remember that any increase in shock stiffness increases the stress on the already questionable stock shock mounting arrangements.
