OK, sorry - I'm showing my age. My vote would go to Led Zeppelin. Wouldn't put Pink Floyd in there, though. Might go with Van Halen. (See, I'm not THAT old!)

By the way, they passed on the name "Led Zeppelin", and their pals took it (and yes, Zep is a great band too).

And no one mentioned Aerosmith or The Stones either...weird. Ahh well: To Each, His Own!

My favorite pop music band is The Beatles, but that's a whole different discussion.
